Frequently asked questions

Are your boards food safe?

Yes, absolutely. All boards are finished with food safe oil and are safe for direct contact with food. The resin used is also food safe once fully cured.

How do I care for my board?

Feed your board regularly with Odie's Oil. It's the only oil I use in my workshop and the only one I recommend. Food safe, long lasting, and it keeps both the wood and resin looking their absolute best. I sell it in the shop as a 30ml sample or a full 9oz jar, so you can try before you commit. A little goes a long way.

Can I put my board in the dishwasher?

Please don't. Heat and prolonged water exposure will damage both the wood and the resin. Hand wash only with warm soapy water, dry immediately, and feed occasionally with Odie's Oil. Treat it well and it'll last a lifetime.

Are your boards suitable for use as chopping boards or just serving?

Both, though the resin boards are best used as serving and grazing boards rather than heavy duty chopping. The solid wood boards without resin are built for serious kitchen work.

Can I request a custom piece?

Absolutely. Custom orders are a big part of what I do. If you have a wood in mind, a colour, a size, or an occasion, get in touch and we'll talk it through. Use the custom order form or drop me a message directly.

Do you do engraving?

Yes. Names, dates, short messages. Perfect for weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings or birthdays. Get in touch to discuss what you have in mind.

How long does a bespoke order for a board take?

It depends on the complexity but typically 2 to 4 weeks. I'll always give you a realistic timeline before you commit.

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery for items in stock is 5 to 7 working days. If you need something urgently, get in touch and I'll do my best.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, but not currently through the website. Please get in touch directly and we can discuss options.

Where can I find you in person?

I do a number of craft fairs and markets throughout the year. Check the Where to Find Me page for upcoming dates. Coming to see the pieces in person is always the best way to find your favourite.

Can I reserve something before a fair?

Yes. If you've spotted something online and want to see it in person before committing, drop me a message and I'll bring it along.

What is resin and is it safe?

Resin is a polymer that starts liquid and cures to a hard, glossy finish. Once fully cured it is completely stable, food safe, and durable. I use high quality resin and pigments throughout.

What woods do you use?

I only use kil-dried wood and mostly English hardwoods: oak, ash, elm, walnut, yew, sycamore, alongside occasional European varieties like Italian walnut and olive. Many pieces feature burr wood, which has particularly dramatic natural patterning formed by irregular grain growth.

Why are pieces priced differently?

Each piece is priced based on the wood used, the complexity of the design, and the time it takes to make. A live edge resin board with embedded botanicals takes significantly longer to create than a solid wood chopping board and the price reflects that. Every piece is handmade by me, in my workshop, one at a time.

Returns & Refunds

Each piece is handmade and one of a kind. If something arrives damaged or not as described, please get in touch within 48 hours of delivery and we'll make it right. As all pieces are unique handmade items, we are unable to accept returns for change of mind. For bespoke or personalised orders, returns cannot be accepted once work has commenced.
