Mermaid: burr elm coffee table

Burr elm is one of the most sought-after woods in British furniture making, and it’s not hard to see why. This slab is covered in the swirling, clustered figuring that only forms over decades of slow growth, every inch of it different, none of it repeatable.
A natural void running through the surface has been filled with teal resin in a shade somewhere between a tropical sea and a mermaid’s tail. It catches the light differently depending on where you stand.
